“Why Insurance?”

Many people have asked me why I decided to “sell” insurance, and more specifically, focus my efforts on Medicare. Simply, I wanted to help people. After my mother turned the age where she became eligible for Medicare, I wanted to help her find the best policy. At that point I was not an insurance agent and it was not even on my radar, but I quickly came to realize that the process was frustrating to my mother and to me! I figured it would be easier, yet at times I found it to be very confusing. Confusion lead to frustration. Frustration lead to disappointment. Disappointment lead to unwanted stress.

The good news is my mother found an insurance plan that fit her needs. She found what she was looking for and I found a new career. With a past career involving managing people, I wanted to make sure that those I worked with were empowered to make wise decisions that benefited themselves. I decided to use that same philosophy and apply that to being an insurance agent. Make it as simple as possible to empower people to control their health insurance needs.

In many cases the second question that I am asked is, “What does it mean to be an independent agent?”. This is a great question because the answer gives my clients options. A “captive” agent is one that is not independent. In other words, they only sell products for one carrier. As an “independent” agent I can offer plans from multiple carriers. Who does not want options?! Being an independent health insurance agent allows me to focus on you as a client with no pressure to sell products that may not be in your best interests.

So, “why insurance?” To help you.
